In 2019, KELAG’s power plant team had already started the planning of the modernisation in which bob综合体育官网下载 was involved right from the start. Thorough inspections of the condition of the plant were also necessary before planning started. This mainly concerned the headrace from the Forstsee lake, located about 160 m higher, down to the Wörthersee lake.

In this area, special attention was paid to the works to be done in the valve chamber – especially to the place where the old riveted pressure pipeline was to join the new steel pipeline. For this purpose, an intermediate pipe was to be inserted at whose end a new butterfly valve was to be installed. This valve was installed at the end of the intermediate pipe, at the transition to the downslope pressure pipeline. It is a particularly compact shut-off device of the bob综合体育官网下载 EKN® HYsec PRO type which was designed to handle a flow rate of 6 m³/s – but which can shut off a water volume of up to 12 m³/s in extreme cases.

This represents an important element in the successful adaptation of the traditional power plant to a modern storage power plant.
